Modern Mill is an exciting new venture in Fernwood, Mississippi. We’re manufacturing a gorgeous, sustainable alternative to traditional composite or wood products.
We seek an assistant machine operator responsible for running key production machines and processes related to producing ACRE boards on time and to spec. Workstations include extrusion, mixing, rice grinding, downstream, packaging and inventory maintenance.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Comply with Modern Mill safety and operating policies and procedures
- Set up and tear down of equipment; including in-line auxiliary equipment
- Follow all standard operating procedures and be part of the rotation process
- Follow a production schedule and lead department guidelines
- Notify supervisor for any problems or malfunction of the equipment
- Comply with machine cleaning expectations established by supervisor
- Be familiar with all chemical precautions stated on the safety data sheets
- Attend to all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification Requirements:
- Prefer at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing plant
- Commit to regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred. U.S. Citizen/permanent residency status
- Read work orders and interpret manufacturing specifications, understand and use shop math, use and interpret measuring instruments
- Work and communicate well with peers
- Write legibly, read and speak English
- Mechanical aptitude
- Understand lean fundamentals, personal protective equipment and safety protocols
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), walking, · Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hard hat protection)
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions, including PVC resin
