Modern Mill is an exciting new venture in Fernwood, Mississippi. We’re manufacturing a
gorgeous, sustainable alternative to traditional composite or wood products.
We’re looking for an energetic, smart product and project manager to help us bring new and
viable products to market. Modern Mill’s value proposition has three core pillars: people,
product, and innovation. This important role will cross all three and:
- Map company strategic initiatives into the product strategy
- Expand product strategy into strategic projects / map product roadmap
- Communicate roadmap with cross-functional stakeholders, ensure buy-in
- Lead market and competitive research; share findings across the organization
- Engage customers, develop relationships with them and help define the problem
space and understand their needs - Collaborate with engineering and marketing to create well defined user stories
- Ensure product / technical decisions align with the expected customer outcomes
and local building codes - Actively participate in the scrum process – planning/stand-ups/review/retrospectives
- Manage product launches and sunsets
- Ensure appropriate hand off features to sales, marketing, customer success
- Define, track, and communicate success metrics
- Define and manage beta launches (customer qualification / beta exit criteria etc.)
and their graduation to general availability - Evangelism – Work with marketing to support content marketing, events, etc.
- Help marketing develop compelling messaging, pricing, and positioning
- Partnerships – Help partner team drive relevant partnership discussions through use
case ideation, joint offering ideation, partner go-to-market - Pre-sales – Help sales team close deals by being the subject matter expert that helps
with prospect discussions and RFPs as needed - Post-sales – Prepare product roadmap to share at customer advisory boards, partner
with marketing and customer success team to address any product feedback directly
with customers
Qualification Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in technical product management with direct experience
writing requirements and driving feature development with engineering - 3+ years of building materials experience
- 2+ years driving product vision and go-to-market strategy via analysis and research
of customer needs and market dynamics - Strong understanding market qualification requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field. MBA is a
plus - Ability to listen and truly uncover customer need instead of simply relaying their asks
- Prior experience engaging all levels of customer organization through a structured
discovery process - Good understanding of the agile / scrum approach to product development
- Ability to focus and identify the most impactful capabilities from everything else that
might also seem relevant and important - Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex
technology clearly - Ability to work independently or lead others on projects as needed
- Excellent persuasion skills to influence and lead without authority across all functions
of the organization - Experience working in or working with functional areas like Engineering, UX/UI,
Sales, Customer Support, Finance or Marketing
