Fernwood was once home to thriving sawmills that supplied lumber to the entire Gulf coast. Now, it’s time to bring manufacturing back home again—and make Fernwood a model mill town for the modern world.
Sustainability Begins at Home
At Modern Mill, we know the sustainability of our business is tied to the sustainability of our community. That’s why we’re investing in the future of Fernwood—helping to create a stronger, healthier and more prosperous environment for our work and our families.
New Jobs for a New Industry
As our business grows, our talented local workforce can choose from a growing number of job opportunities—paying livable wages and offering affordable healthcare coverage. We’ve partnered with the Workforce Training Center at Southwest Mississippi Community College to offer job training and education, helping team members develop the skills they need to participate in the resurgence of American manufacturing.
Locally Grown
We source rice hulls from local fields—not only to minimize the wasteful impact of overseas transportation, but also to help neighboring farmers unlock an additional source of revenue. The vibrant local economy we nurture today will help sustain our business in the future.
